To our Dear Returning and Future Students,
Happy New Year!! We hope that this year brings adventure, success, and much excitement! We are pleased to announce that as of January 2, 2010, our spring session has started! If you haven’t already, secure a spot by enrolling today!
We hope that you are just as thrilled to be back as we are! For Kruti Dance Academy, 2010 is a milestone year! This year will mark our fifteen years of existence here in Atlanta, GA. We are proud to say that in these last 15 years, Kruti has broken barriers and exceed expectations. For those of you that don’t know us as well here is a quick highlight of our accomplishments:
- Kruti annually produces one of Atlanta’s most anticipated dance concerts featuring all of its students. Each year this concert has brought a sell out crowd to prestigious venues such as the fabulous Fox Theatre and Atlanta Symphony Hall.
- To date, 54 students have mastered the Bharat Natyam art form and completed their Arangetrams (formal Bharat Natyam graduation ceremony) under the guidance of Kruti Dance Academy director, Mrs. Dina Sheth.
- Most recently - Kruti choreographer and instructor, Shemoni Sheth, was invited to work with Longinus Fernandez (choreographer for multi-Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire) as the assistant choreographer for Canada’s most popular reality show So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Together they produced the opening dance featuring the show’s top 18 contestants dancing to a hot Bollywood number. The show aired on Sept 2, 2009 on CTV. See CTV feature article.
- Recognized for utmost professionalism, class and quality, Kruti is repeatedly invited to perform for major organizations - The Indus Entrepreneur (TIE), Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, The Martin Luther King Foundation, Bronner Brothers Fashion Extravaganza and Coca-Cola Corporation (just to name a few).
- Kruti has often been featured by the media. In addition to coverage in local newspapers, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Khabar Magazine, Rivaaj Magazine, Little India, NRI Pulse and India Today, the academy was recognized as the leading Indian dance institution in Georgia on NBC’s 11Alive news. Students of the academy have also had countless opportunities to showcase Indian dance on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta.
- Kruti Dance Academy has been invited to perform nationally—Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida—to provide exposure of Indian culture to mainstream audiences. Recently, Kruti was featured in an Indian classical dance exhibition at the University of North Alabama.
- Kruti Dance Academy Director, Mrs. Dina Sheth, won an award from Secretary of State of GA for Cultural Excellence.
- Past students, Shivani Gandhi and Shezi Sardar, won the Atlanta Boogie Woogie: Chalo America Competition and proceeded to get honorable mentions at the national level.
- Seventeen Kruti students have placed at the Miss India Georgia and Miss Teen India Georgia pageant and nine secured the top talent award as well.
- Kruti students have performed at Mega Star events! We truly were dancing with the stars! Shah Rukh Khan! Anil Kapoor! Daler Mendhi! Juhi Chawla! Aishwariya Rai! Hritik Roshan! How exciting
We are determined to make this year our best yet. We expect to reach new heights and promise to keep our readers posted! Thank you students and parents for making all of our achievements possible!
Cheers to 2010! Look out!! Here we come
