Shemoni

Shemoni Sheth is a versatile and accomplished dancer, choreographer and teacher.  She has studied Bharat Natyam since the tender age of 2 years and completed her Bharat Natyam Arangetram ceremony in 2001. Shemoni has been a dance Instructor since her graduation, specializing in Bollywood and Fusion dances. 

Shemoni is also a honors graduate in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, While maintaining a rigorous academic schedule, Shemoni single-handedly coordinated the Georgia Tech Holi Show for three years in a row – a premiere Indian cultural event for the college student community of greater Atlanta. Shemoni is the 2007 winner of Miss Asian Atlanta Scholarship pageant, where she also won the “Miss Talent” title.  She has judged various dance competitions including Tampafest 2008, Rangoli 2008, Dandiya Dhamaka 2010 and Atlanta Desi Idol.

Most recently, Shemoni was invited to work with Longinus Fernandez (choreographer for multi-Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire) as the assistant choreographer for Canada’s most popular reality show So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Together they produced the opening dance featuring the show’s top 18 contestants dancing to a hot Bollywood number. The show aired on Sept 2, 2009 on CTV.  See CTV feature article.

For the last two years, in addition to being an integral part of the Kruti staff, Shemoni worked as a Systems Consultant for IBM. Shemoni has now transitioned careers and is pursuing her passion full time.
